Today we had lunch with Isaiah, his girlfriend Michelle, and her parents. I was quite impressed with them and thought I'd share the link to the story Michelle's father Ian wrote regarding the company he believes God led him to start.
Today we went to the Head of the Eagle regatta in Indianapolis. Again GMRC did great. Angela rowed in the women's jr. novice 4. Their time placed them first but they were disqualified because they did not get to the start line on time. Oh well, their time was great. She also rowed in the women's jr. novice 8 placing second.Mostly, she had a lot of fun.
Here's the link to Isaiah's web page. If you forget it, it's also in the side bar here under "Other Family Spots".
He is building this as part of his e-media course at CCM. At the site you will find all kinds of information that gives you insight to the wonderful young man.
The Greater Miami Rowing Center participated in the 25th Annual Jack Speakmon Memorial Regatta in Columbus, Ohio yesterday. Click here to see all of my photo's from the event.
The team results were amazing given the club has only had a high school team for less than 2 years.
Angela and I went to the Sichuan Bistro near us last night. I loved the food but it was a bit spicy for her ... she turned kinda red while eating ... too much fire for her.
PS - Speaking of fire, I forgot to mention it but Barb and I went to Fireproof last week. Great movie! It's basically about a couple on the brink of divorce, each wants the other to change, the husband's father gives him some advice which the husband thinks will get the wife to change, in the course of executing that advice the man is the one that changes = he becomes a Christian - and well you get the rest. Go see it!
NSV is one of several partners of a JEM Ministries in Juarez, Mexico. JEM Ministries serves the orphaned and marginalized of Juarez by meeting the spiritual and practical needs of the community.
For the past 7 years we've served in Juarez, and for the last 2, have specifically been building on a 12,000 square foot orphanage/trade school campus for JEM. JEM Ministries is lead by Pastor Jesus Ruiz and his wife, Maria. Maria was awarded CNN's Heroes award for her daily commitment to crossing the border from El Paso to Juarez, MX. And she's now made the final top ten 'Heroes' and has been rewarded $25,000 for their ministry.
But that's not all. If she wins the top 'Hero of the Year' award, which is announced on Thanksgiving night on CNN (9pm EST), she will win an additional $100,000 dollars. The winner is based on who gets the most votes. Go vote now! Please.
