first day of school

Isaiah and Angela started their first day of school today. It's hard to believe how much Barb and I love these guys. We still get misty each year when we send them off for the first time - it feels like yesterday when we sent them on their very first day. Now Isaiah is in 12th grade and Angela is in 10th. They have grown so beautifully and we are very, very proud of them.

While we were in Jersey, we got to spend an afternoon at my Uncle Lou's place. We ate and played some music ... the food was good.

Rick Sr. & Sandy

My mom and dad are doing well. They are anxious for their house in Jersey to sell so mom can retire and they can move to a home they recently bought in Kansas City near my brother Steve.

It was real nice visiting them last week.

It's 6 am and I'm ready for a long ride in the car [heavy sarcasm].

Today we head back to Cinci after a nice visit in Jersey.

neighborhood picnic

picnic

Yesterday Angela and her friend Ayah held a neighborhood picnic for "going back to school". I was real nice. They made all sorts of fantastic foods and each of the neighbors also brought something. We had a lot of fun. Click on the embedded photo to see more.

Now I'm scared. Here's my brother Steve's son Eli giving the camera his scariest look.

county fair

My brother Mario, his son, also Mario, and daughter Madison got their picture in their local paper. Front page stuff and they didn't even do anything illegal.

Indoor Sledding

While Rick is away in Mexico for work i've decided to spice this blog up my style and keep it running.
This is the photo of the day.
Although this picture was posed and I was fully stopped at the time it was taken, I did actually discover this fun earlier today. It's amazing what you can do with an empty laundry basket and stairs. Unfortunately as I discovered if you lean forward too much you come to a halt and then end up stuck because the bottom of the basket is flat against the stair. You can't lean backwards any more to get it to slide again for fear of going way too fast down the stairs and losing control and you also can't stand up because that would require leaning forward...and lets be honest...it's just not smart to lean forward when you can't fully move your legs because 1/2 of them are in the basket still. Rolling down the stairs head over heel isnt very attractive either. So if you ever want to try it, learn from me...have somebody around who can assist and wear earplugs so that you don't have to hear about the "dangers" of indoor sledding once they have safely rescued you.

greenland glacier

Last week I was in Germany. Flying back we had an excellent view of a glacier in Greenland. This picture does not begin to do justice to the beauty of the sight.

manor house flowers

One of the benefits of working at a banquet center is that you get to pick-up leftover stuff. Isaiah brought Barb some flowers yesterday. Everyone is happy.

isaiah working

Isaiah has gone from no jobs to suddenly having two. He'll try to maintain that as long at possible. Here he is in his Chick-fil-A and his Manor House "uniforms".
